News Links of the Week

The New York Times reports this week that European officials are pressing for an international ban on prized sushi fish, bluefin tuna. Most of the 27 EU member countries support the ban, as stocks of the sought-after fish have plummeted in recent years.

The Wall Street Journal writes a nice profile on local Oakland restaurant Commis. Congratulations to James Shyabout for earning Michelin's star.

Recipe for cardiac arrest: Salon reports on the Quadruple Bypass Burger which packs an estimated 8,000 calories, free to anyone who weighs over 350 pounds.The Heart Attack Grill, whose menu features single through quadruple bypass burgers (one beef patty for each bypass), also includes "flatliner fries" deep fried in pure lard, unfiltered cigarettes, and Jolt Cola.
